The title pretty much says it all. I would have posted this in recordings, but the question is pertaining to the bass used so I posted here, correct me if I misposted.

Yeah, that sure sounds like a Precision on the recording. Love that tune and that slap line.

Does anyone have a transcription of that bass line? I've tried to figure it out by ear, but I've never got it right; there's a lot going on. Thanks.

The full line was transcribed in a Bass Player mag' a few years ago, the one with Doug Wimbish on the cover, from the Jungle Funk days.
Its a nice line to play, I've played it in a band and I've got me playing it on mini disc somewhere !

Yup, it was Freddy with a Precision. Anyone know the details on his Precision (maple/rosewood? ash/alder?) I'm pretty sure it's burst but forget the rest...

Freddie used a '72 P-Bass with roundwound strings to record this song.
Found through a google search.

I read an interview in Bass Player about that particular song and he said it was recorded with a Fender Precision.

I read a post that said that said that it was a precision, according to an interview in an old Bass Player magazine.

He said he had EMG pickups in it.
I think it was a burst with a maple neck.
I also think that issue of BP had the transcription in it.

He actually used the early prototype of a fretless Conklin GT-7 on that track. . . not a lot of people know that.
