The Clash - Complete Control - Bass - YouTube

Check out this isolated track...is he using flatwounds? It sounds like a P-Bass and an ampeg played with a pick.

Here's another one...
The Clash - London Calling - Bass - YouTube

This one's a tad dirtier...

Yep. Definitely P with flats, pick, and an Ampeg.

I agree on the P bass with a pick. But I remember him using Acoustic Control Corp amps.

In almost all the clips I've seen of the Clash he's using SVT's and 810's.

Well Jimmy, Wikipedia confirms he was an Ampeg user/endorser. But this photo sure looks like an Acoustic head and 4x12 cab....

Paul is still criminally underrated as a bassist in my book.
He fused rock/punk/pop bass with reggae and dub in a way previously unheard off. Tasteful and deep as the day is long . .

Ya, I had an Acoustic before I got an Ampeg too That looks like a pretty early pic. Wild rig. Nothing wrong with Acoustic, just not my thing.

How do people get a hold of these isolated tracks?

That's always been one of my favorite Clash songs. I always thought the bass part made that song!

Thanks for sharing!

Some iso tracks get released through Rock Band and Guitar Hero, some were stolen.

I love how in that pic with the acoustic/4x12 cab they got his cab double mic'd. I wonder if he did the ol' link wray speaker cut to add a dirty edge to that speaker (is that acoustic head solid state? Might simulate a driven tube head [ampeg] with the beat speaker mic'd too).
