People on Youtube disgust me...

So, I like to check out videos people put on Youtube of their bass skills, wether it's just them playing a cover with a CD, or an original composition or whatever. I think it's a great way for people to get some feedback on their playing. HOWEVER, I think sometimes the people giving feedback really don't know what they're talking about. There are some videos that make me cringe, and they get like 5 stars and great comments. Also, there are videos where people play the crap out of their instruments and do it damn well, and they get really BAD feedback. Makes me sad really. Has anyone out there had a bad experience that way?

Guess it's not really such a great way for people to get feedback on their playing...

Hahahahaha

Those comments are so funny...but meaningless.
Post on TB and get real worthwhile comments.

i heard you can get aids from youtube

seriously though as soon as you open yourself up to the web you open yourself up to critics and all kinds of weirdo's just do what i do watch the videos and fight the urge to scroll down

i've seen vids slating sheehan, wooten, pastorius, lee you name it at the end of the day you can take comfort in the fact the guy who posted it is probably still a virgin and probably still gets beaten by his alcoholic dad

Okay, so I think MOST of the time it's a great way to get feedback. Of course there are always exceptions.

I suggest if a TBer posts a video for some feedback,
he disables the comments and the ratings,
and posts the video in a thread here to get some valuable comments.

You can always ignore the idiot chat in youtube and come to TB for real feedback.

What drives me mad is that there are some people who put their vids. on you tube who's obviously started playing the day before.Waste of world resources.

criticism doesn't define anything, it just shows the state of mind of the one criticizing.

I just figure, for everyone who thinks I'm great, there's someone who thinks I suck...
whatever...

I've seen people say bad things about Vic, Marcus, Geddy, Pino, etc. do you think they care?

People on YouTube are idiots. I have a YouTube channel for the disabled drummers on my website Handidrummed.com. Some moron left a comment on this video http://youtube.com/watch?v=sAqj7mWukXs for Jim Loomis, a drummer who has no left hand. He straps a stick to his arm and plays the hell out of it. Someone said "Not that good...how is he disabled?" I've had a few negative ones on my own videos but I deleted them.

I had about 50 vids of me playing and i had tons of trolls telling me i sucked because i didnt play the music they liked

Its pretty sad, i deleted all of my videos as well.

Im going to put more up and we will see what people have to say since i have new Equipment now, its just the issue is that some people rate you really bad with out watching the vid all the way through.

True.

But better to come from bass players than from any Tom, Dick, or Harry! Who knows who the hell these people are...and they are vicious!

Yeah, I'd think about posting videos here, but, man, that'd be so intimidating

Also, another problem with doing it here is that there are people VERY critical of different genres, and would rather bad-mouth it than say nothing at all. However, I think once I've actually got some vids, I will be a big boy, and post 'em.
