I did hear Percy in Mick though; in his use of modes and microtonal approach, which I believe are/were intentional and not simply out of tune.
I have no idea if Mick ever listened to Percy.
All 3 are/were trailblazers w/Percy being to my ears the most unique/least imitable of them all. |

| | | I love Percy Jones' playing but I blame him for stalling my progress as a bass player.
I listened to him a lot in the 1980s and I tried to imitate him without having any understanding of basic music theory -- that is to say, I was just wanking. So I didn't learn much for a long time.
Of course, it was my own damn fault but I still blame him.

| | | | I was more of a Jaco follower but everybody gets stuck on their favorite players. I started learning upright and my first lesson was from Milt Hinton. He had me play his electric bass first. i played some Jaco from Weather Report. He then asked me did i know what i had just played. I told him I played by ear and he said you need to learn theory. |

remeber the track by Brand X call Wal to Wal that featured both Percy Jones and Jonh Giblin(both playing fretless Wals). | Product and Do they hurt are fine albums, and both Jones and Giblin are playing some very nice chopes.
