re frapps the g string!!

Percy made a mistake in a reording session where he pulled the g string off the fret board and let it go .. the sound engineer loved it but percy was like what did i do .. sound engineer just said keep doin g it and it became part of his sound and technique

I spent many hours in the '80s and '90s listening through headphones to Percy's unbelievable bass playing with Brand X, always wondering, "How the f#%@ does he DO that?" I never had the opportunity to see him live, but he'll always hold a place of honor in my personal pantheon of bass gods. Glad to see others appreciating him, too.

I use to love listening to the Brand X albums with percy and phil collins was awesome on drums, amazing talent.
Funny enough i actually really dug john giblins playing as well, he also deserved more limelight. I actually once tried to get him to come down to the music college i studied at to do a workshop but he declined and instead advised me to get in Laurence cottle who was awesome but i was sad that john didnt feel up to it.
Well sorry to go off topic but yep percy jones is that man!

John Giblin has played with a lot of people, I especially like his work with Kate Bush. Very good fretless player.

Yeah, I have a lot of recordings with Giblin's name on it, I don't think he's ever hurting for work. Wonderful player!

I just cued up Unorthodox Behavior on the stereo and saw this thread.

Interesting stuff. PJ really knows how to make music on a fretless!
