OK. I am not one for hyperbole. But I cannot believe that I have not heard of this guy before.

Last night I was searching YouTube to get a clip of Willie Weeks playing his "Everything is Everything" solo to post on another thread here on TB. Well, I can't find a clip of Willie playing it, but there is a clip by "Dowsemeister" playing that same solo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TU5dUeqcS6Q So, I check it out -- and its pretty good -- dead on in fact.

I was impressed. "Dowsemeister" has some other videos posted, so I decide to check those out as well.

Guess what ... he sounds really damn good in a bunch of different styles. He sounds really close to James Jamerson
on "I was made to love her" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdhH8VYNSM8

Does a fantastic impression of Larry Graham on "Hair" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbEQfLK1768

I think to myself ... this guy is a pro. Who the hell is he and why haven't I heard of him before?

Well, I do a little internet research and it turns out he is Peter Dowse, a rock bassist who spent nearly 20 years playing with Frank Marino in Mahogany Rush.

Check out this clip of him playing Bill Evan's "Blue in Green."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZT30...eature=channel

There are also clips of him playing Anthony Jackson and Headhunters stuff. Seriously, this guy deserves some TB respect.

So I must ask .... Am I the only one who had not heard of him? If he was closer to me, I would be signing up for lessons. Check him out.

Without giving away too many secrets, Peter has been active on the Montreal scene for years and just recently moved out West. He is, indeed, a fantastic bassist. He is also a super-nice guy: really down-to-earth and humble.

By "moving out West" you would not happen to mean Northern California would you? I was serious about taking lessons from him if he were in the area and was so inclined.

No, sorry! I believe Peter now resides in Vancouver. Might make for a decent road trip, though!
