Is this an oxymoron? Seriously, when I think of phenomenal players they aren't famous for playing the blues........or do I just lead a sheltered life?
There's an ad in the local paper wanting a Blues bassist............"must be a phenomenal player".........
Who should answer the add?

| | Registered User Brownchicken Browncow | | Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Phoenix, AZ | | | fitting the bill for a blues bassist, means you know where the pocket is, and you enjoy playing there. you know all the structures and styles (8, 12, 16 bar, quick 4, medium shuffle, etc....) like the back of your hand. you know how to not be boring with your basslines, but not loose your place in the pocket. improv just about any blues tune wheather you have heard it / played it, or not.

Who should answer the add? | You should know why they put that there,  Have you ever auditioned players? Maybe 10% are candidates, maybe!
There are some excellent Jazz/Blues players out there.
You can always tell because first they are tempo kings. |
