Phil Lynnot's bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Saw BBC Crown Jewels last night with Thin Lizzy, and they were amazing. I thought Phil was using a P-Bass, but it turned out to be something with a MM-pup, relatively P-shaped w/ a big pickguard, neck looked mahogany and headstock looked like it went back at 17 degree angle. Any ideas/photo's?
Sounded ultra-clangy, almost Lemmy-like.

a little too much armadillo......

that's an old Roland bass; it was built by Ibanez, with Roland electronics including an onboard MIDI controller. Not many of those were made; the idea didn't really work in practice. Phil replaced the guts (note the taped-over jack on the big pic above) and used it because it felt comfy to him.

Phil Lynott's Gear?

it's a black version of this, with a mirror pickguard.
