Phil Lynott's tuning

I might be completely mistaken but it always seems like Phil uses a different tuning on his bass. Is it just taken down a half step or so? It seems to change from album to album.

Or am I just crazy?

I dunno but he could have changed to match the tone of the tone the album. In concert he didn't retune for every song though

I was just working out the bassline last night for on of Thin Lizzy's songs - The Hero or The Madman - for a cover a band I'm in are considering to do. I didn't tune down and seemed to work out OK, although I don't know much of their work (despite being Irish myself!!), but wouldn't surprise me about the down tuning!

One of the greatest unknown rock and roll songs ever. I had the pleasure of doing it when it was current and it was a blast. I haven't been able to get anyone to do it since.
