Pino really is amazing. Everything he puts his hands to just absolutely grooves/sings/brings it home.

a class act as well.

Yep, I too have just discoverd him from JMT - and now I want a P and an SVT! Not that it would make any differance in how astronomically less talented I am than him !

But that Butter in the pan for cookies comment is right on! Great tone with great talent to drive it.

I think that along with his incredible taste and sensitivity, his warm tone goes along way in allowing him to be busy without being in the way. Such a warm tone doesn't clash with the guitar or stomp on the vocals or call attention to itself. I have switched to TI flats lately, and have also found this to be true.

The mix on Try is about the best I've heard from JMT, Pino is really clear, possibly down to the FOH engineer. Pino's using his old Ashdown ABM heads with Epifani cabs there.

Raul Midon - Don't Take it that way
I love Manu Katche and watching him with Pino is just the best. The groove on that Raul Midon video is just sooo nice. Man but Pino makes that P bass look like a toy though, how tall is he?

Pino is silly tall, skinny, and has enourmous hands. Great build for a bass player. Wish I wasn't short, wide and have small hands...

I've been digging Pino since the Don Henley stuff in the mid 80's. I saw him with Paul Young in 1987.

Raul Midon is ridiculous! How come I've never heard of him before?!?

Yea, Raul Midon is absolutely brilliant!! After seeing this video I went to his site. There is a video there of some of his history and the making of the lastest album. Larry Klein produced and played bass on the tracks.

Here is a Pino blast from the past. Just brilliant!
One of the things about Pino is his authenticity in whatever the genre he is playing. The he'll add some of his own flavor to it to spice it up...but never overdone just for the sake of it. One of the reasons he's worked so much over the years.
