Pino on DirecTV

I was watching a "Tribute to 50 Years of the Fender Strat" on one of the DirecTV channels today. (I might have that title wrong, but that's the gist of it.) Pino Palladino was playing bass for an impressive succession of Strat-playing guitarists. Great show if you get a chance to catch it. I didn't get to see it all. It was on for over 2 & 1/2 hours, but Pino was holding down the bottom for everybody. Did a great job, too (surprise, surprise, I know!). I especially liked when he played Funk 49 with Joe Walsh. Of course I always loved that bassline, and Pino nailed it. Well worth watching...

It was on HD Direct, a high-def channel. On my TV, it was channel 79. Hopefully, they'll air it again. I'd like to see the parts I missed, and watch some of the other stuff again. Gary Moore did a phenomenal version of Hendrix's "Red House".

That's from a special called "the Strat Pack" which is out on dvd... Funny thing is that Brian May is in there, uses a strat for one song then reverts back to his homemade guitar.

Watching this now - recorded it. Funk-49 with Walsh is just too cool.
