I have every bassplayer mag except one. Been thinking of selling them all Love Pino. IMO the second most influential fretless player of all time then he switches gears and influences the use of live bass and drums by hip hop artists who at the time were sampling everything. Then of course there's The Who. I remember a BassPlayer interview with Anthony Jackson many years ago and they asked him who HIS current favorite player was-PINO!
Anybody have/remember Pino's playing on Go West's debut album?
I remember that stuff distinctly, and I have all those recordings. I regard it as some of Pino's best work on fretless, right up there with the "Secret of Association" album by Paul Young.
Over the last number of years, a few guys on TB have raved about Pino's work on a record by an artist named Julia Fordham called "Porcelain". I never got around to checking it out, but this is a good reminder.
