Wow! Double Wow!! His solo during My Generation was great. I think the Ox would have approved.

He is amazing. I just caught him on John Mayer's Where the Light Is BluRay disc and it was awesome. I'm not a huge fan of Mayer's pop, but he played a blues set with Pino and Steve Jordan and it was smoking. Easily worth the price of the disc to see Pino, he's the man!

Enjoyed his playing (as usual), not digging his tone.

Pino is a great player, but no one will ever get The Ox's tone. Entwistle had that in his hands, and it died with him.

The bassist for The Foo Fighters, dont know his name. played really well. I was expecting more soloing from Kenney, but he played it the way it was needed. For Pino... one word, WOW! As already said, The Ox would have approved.

There are YouTube videos up, but many of the comments are stating they are being taken down due to copyright infringement. I think YouTube should just shut down... they have too many rules.

Yeah, anyone notice that of all the bands, only one didn't play a P-Bass? I think Incubus' Kenney had a Lakland Jerry Scheff, but other than that, all P-Bass! (Foo Fighters was a Lakland P, but still a P)

It's because P-basses kick ass.

Its Kenney, not Kennedy! Dont disrespect! Sorry, had to get that tiny rant out. I did notice the P-bass trend, but Pino by far had the nicest... and most expensive! Ben Kenney had a different Lakland than usual, but he still kicked some serious buttox.

I thought Jeff had a 57 Precision. That would bump Pino's out of the top spot.

BTW, I thought Jeff sounded great, but Pino sounded buried. A Precision would have been great for the Who, but not flats. Too muddy.

I actually plugged my headphones into my TV to hear the bass! Every once in a while you could really notice... but the key words are "once in a while".

I am thinking maybe Pino played that way out of respect for John Entwistle as it was really John's night not Pino's ? I have heard other clips of Pino Palladino with The Who and his tone is more out front and "Entwistle" like.

And why would he honor Entwistle that way? I would rather bring the man's music to the front, as he did himself. I think it was more of a production issue...

Seemed deliberate to me. If Pino wanted to sound "Entwistle" like I think he could have. Of course this is only my opinion and I know some you are great Bass players with all the anwsers.

I am with P-Bass on this one, I believe Pino Palladino knew what tone he was after. he used a flatwound strung Precision. I have seen The Who with Pino and he was playing a Fender Jaguar Bass and his tone was brite and agresive. Pino is a true players player and maybe he did want to honor John in that way. Dave
