I'm shocked to see this chain. Saw the Who two weeks ago then again on the concert for Sandy. His tone, and feel and chops were absolutely monstrous. The concert was spectacular. Frankly i think it's better now with Pino and the other new guys than many of the old recordings I've heard.

There's a difference between copying and filling the gap Entwistle left.
After 30 years, Zak Starr filled Keith place perfecly well and never copied him. The same thing didn't happened to Pino.
He's great, i'm a huge fan and all but... he's like the Kenney Jones on bass: great playing, great musician but not the best option for the role.

Has anyone considered that's it's exactly how Pete and Roger want it? The need to step in on short notice was years ago. They could have almost anyone they wanted and they want Pino.

I liked Kenny Jones with the Who. So did John and Pete. According to Pete's autobiography, It was Roger who fought to get him out.

Nobody can replace Entwistle...Pino is a great player on his own, but IMO he brings nothing to the Who...

I disagree, I loved Entwistle but Pino brings his own groove to the Who. I saw them a few years back and thought they sounded great.

Love Pino and The Ox is a true legend. True dat Pino is certainly no Entwistle; but then again...Entwistle was no Pino. Pino does have a modicom of versatility that John never had the opportunity to fully develop. I do wonder how John would have performed if pressed into service with another band; different style and groove on a moments notice. Not all situations thrive on a bassist who likes to hang his hat towards the far end of the neck. Pino adapts easily to most any situation.
