Hard to say; it seems the recording device is overdriven.
But I think his setup with JMT is P-bass, OC-2 and Ampeg SVT...

You sure its just not the bass overpowering the mic on the camera?

Thats what it sounds like to me.

WTLI setup was his P bass (TI flats) to an SVT.

An older trio video (AOL) had him sporting Ashdown heads through older Epifani T series cabinets.

Hmm, I don't remember the bass sounding like that on my copy of the DVD, but then again it's been a while since I watched it.

Pino's JM set up there is SVT with 8x10 (natch) + vintage 60s (or signature) P bass with flats as stated above.

The SVT is the main reason it sounds so sweet...... but he's doing something with those avalon pre's also to get that killer grit.
I just wish I had his hands. They're friggen monstrous eh?

I would almost bet that the Avalon sends the clean signal and the SVT is mid-heavy in the EQ for the grit and mic'd. The blend would be pretty delish.
