His music (for example, especially Adama and Continuo albums) have mediterranean and israeli accents that are what attracted me to the sound on Pandora originally. Great entertainder and composer. I hope more folks can sample and enjoy.

Just wanted to point this out, given the subject of this thread.

I'm not much for hip hop, I do like reggae, and I could care less how pious or sincere he is. I think he's pretty damn unique and has some balls. It's funny, about the only hip hop I listen to is Matisyahu, MBS (an Algerian group), and the rare Tupac or Digital Planets tune.
The closest I get to playing Jewish music lately is playing Max Bruch's Kol Nidrei on cello (poorly). One of these days I'm gonna transcribe it for fretless. I think that might sound OK.

It is also extremely moving. I may try that on fretless also - hadn't thought of it.

Hmm. While not explicitly "Jewish"-music, Gogol Bordello's main members (Eugene Hutz, for example) play a style of music they refer to as "gypsy punk" which contains many references to the Judaio-European lifestyle of the 20th century... Anyone a fan?

The Ahava Rabboh scale (D nominal mode): D, Eb, F#, G, A, Bb, C, d
Practicing this scale on the bass sounds so cool!

I played Clarinet for 11 years, but once i finished High School and didn't want to play in a college pit orchestra, it just sat there unused... until 2 years later and i 'discovered' klezmer music (via the movie "Dummy"). So i got a book and broke out my old Clarinet and got back into the swing of things again! It's been amazing ever since!
I know it's not a bass... so don't lambast me... just thought i'd like to share my love of a genre with like minds
