I actually don't play any video games anymore - once I calculated how much time I spent on the Damn things - I freaked out and Ran over my X-box with my Blazer.
I can't say that they are bad for everyone, just that they are bad for me.
I laugh at POSERS, so I guess they are a good thing.

I suck pretty bad at Rock Band, timing isn't helped because you just look at the little dot to know when to "play" Plus, I always miss the appropriate colored button because I am looking to play the notes like on a real bass and overshoot. Oh well.

It's fun to hang around and make a fool of myself with my friends, but it doesn't help my playing at all.

That's funny.
I read an interview w/ Valeri Bertinelli in People, OK or one of those celeb gossip magazines. She stated that Eddie Van Halen actually REALLY sucks at Guitar Hero!

Agreed, my muscle and mental memory make me completely mess me up on those games. I'm terrible at them. It's like playing a minor 2nd and hearing a perfect 5th... just doesn't add up in my head and I usually bomb on anything but easy. (Where I can sit and see what to play and think about it first....)

Though I do agree that they're fun to wail at while drinking with a few friends. If it inspires someone to pick up an instrument, more power to them.

Also, I saw that Wii commercial too and have no idea how that could be anything but Wario Ware with musical instruments. "Do the violin!"

"Why would you spend thousands of dollars buying a guitar when you could play this game? I can totally play this song hell good ey. I think im a natural at guitar ey."

i don't have a problem with the game at all... although i agree that some of its users can be a little cocky over it

but i have to second (or third) the notion that its good that it brings people to try to play for real. i myself re-picked up the bass cuz one day i was playing guitar hero and thought "what the hell am i doing.. with the amount of time i play this i could actually just go back to playing the bass"

haven't played it in about a year, theres just no reason to. my roomate asked me if i wanted to go halfsies on the new rockband when it came out, my response to her: "why would i want to pretend to play when i actually can??"

i would suck anyway, i was in best buy the other week and i played one song (white wedding) and was sooo confused... just seems so unnatural.

Games are games. Music is music.

If those games make some people really try and learn an instrument - that's great. But the posing... urgh. I guess it's just a matter of personal features. Such as intelligence

Anyway, I have yet to play those games... But I don't have the time. I'd rather spend it playing my Jazz Bass

It's a win win for those of us who play!

but u guys, im not talking about the ones who are REALLY inspired by these games, tho peeps are awesome,
