It could turn me into a believer. Other than that, there's a lot to respect, but I reserve the right to have my own opinions and he never really spoke to me. I wish he'd lived long enough to change my mind more than he did with the Mitchell stuff. "Coyote" off _Shadows and Light_ is a favorite of mine.

Seriously though, I have much much respect for Jaco. I love his first album. I just never find myself listening to him anymore. |

But maybe give him another chance? Check out Weather Report's album 'Black Market.' In particular, songs like '3 Clowns' really show his sensitive side. It's not always obvious, but he really did care about the music, deeply.

then again, I never learned to use the "search" function.

Don't hate, just wondering if I'm alone. | if you had done a search you would have found out a lot faster. |

Every thread on hear about Jaco is people riding his dong. I wanted to see who else dislikes his music or if there was anybody here that wasn't obsessed/impressed with his solo stuff.

Loved his first record, and both Joni Mitchell records he played on, and he absolutely KILLED with Weather Report. However, the "Word of Mouth" record, as stated earlier, is full of random noise. Sure, there are some brilliant spots in there, and I can definitely appreciate Jaco's ability to compose and write FOR the song, not to serve him as a bassist... But man... Much of that record sounds like a bunch of preschoolers set loose in the percussion dept at GC.
(Don't hate! This is only an opinion!)
