| | | | Bumping, because this seems right up my alley, haha
Many of my favorite bassists come from this particular genre, and I didn't really realize that it had seeped into my playing so much until this guy I was jamming with commented that I have an "older, darker, post-punk" style muahaha |

I think a new wave covers band would go over lake gangbusters in the right area. Do some Devo, Cars, Blondie, Talking Heads, Split Enz and maybe a few "one-hit wonder" tunes like "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors or "Da Da Da" by Trio...perhaps toss in an original or two here and there.
I honestly think this could be a great covers band project. I'm sure it's being done in plenty of places, but I don't hear of it often. | There was/is a band in Seattle called The Retros that did all those songs and bands you mention. They were a big hit and were pretty successful here in the Seattle area. I'm just learning bass, but that would be what I would want to play. I'm a big Duran, early Simple Minds, New Order, and all those 80's bands fan. I think if you did it, you'd have lots of success. |
