The thing I try and instil in the team (and myself) is an acceptance of our shortcomings, the ability to shrug off the inevitable mistakes, and the desire to develop and do better next time.

And this is just some chat amongst bassists! Can you just imagine when we're all together, keys, sopranos, drummers, et al..... we're not going to just want eternity, we're going to NEED eternity to finish these conversations!
The alternative, eternal isolation, has just sent shivers down my spine. "Lord, may the small part I play in Your music touch the hearts of those who so desperately need to know You!"

(Going to walk to Tesco soon with the family, taking the sledges. Wish I had skis. I may be some time.)

Just got a call from both daughters at 1am that their grandfather had passed away after years and years of alcoholism and a triple stroke 10 years ago and then they took both of his legs last year. Never missed a drop. Lifelong Catholic in name. Hard fence to climb over. May God have mercy on his soul! RIP Captain GP.

Of course... we moved to flippin Canada when I was ten, so now it's almost everyday for at least 4 months of the year.

"Lord, may the small part I play in Your music touch the hearts of those who so desperately need to know You!" | I don't know what Talkbass's policy is about promoting other forums, but here's this one: http://www.developingworship.com/forum/
Anything and everything related to church music and church issues. Fair warning though: the prevailing culture over there seems to be to the Chris Tomlin/Matt Redman/David Crowder/etc. style. Also fair warning: it's a fairly low-traffic board.

That said, I went back to a fretted bass a while back in part so I didn't have to worry about intonation so much. | I have a Korg tuner in my rack.......and there are few things in life as satisfying as grabbing a note on the fretless, turning around to take a peek at the tuner, and finding it solidly on pitch!

Practice, study, understanding, and more practice definitely do wonders.

I can't even take the time to learn the acoustic I own so I surely will never learn the DB, I will forever be relegated to sitting back and being jealous.

Of course... we moved to flippin Canada when I was ten, so now it's almost everyday for at least 4 months of the year. | Moved to Utah from Derby over 5 years ago. We got 30 inches last weekend - a lot, even for us. One of my sisters, living in London, was telling me about trains being cancelled because 2cm of snow was 'expected'.
I did offer to send over a snowblower, some soup and blankets... her answer was both biblically incorrect and physically impossible...

| | | | The priest texted me last night and asked if I could play bass tonight. Great opportunity to road test my new setup. Kala u-bass, EA Doubler, Mojo-sonic 1x10 - one trip load in. Leaving in 30 minutes already packed, excitement in a small package.
