Thanks,

| | | | Direct Injection is a specific line of DI's. they are essentially converters moreso than interfaces like the big ones. It just makes your 1/4" signal a decent XLR signal (not a great way to go).
We have two bassists at my church (and a third occasional). Both of us have the SansAmp Bass Driver and use that as our DI. Our other bassist uses a Radial JDI that is the church's.

| | | | As predicted, the Holy Spirit came through. Yesterday the WL texted me to remind me I need to go in Saturday evening to set up, rather than Sunday a.m. While I was running CAT5 for the personal IEM mixers, the Asst WL texted me that he was coming to help set up. We had a very brotherly discussion about the floor monitor doing bad things when it's too loud. Also clarified that he's using a different IEM station for his 1 in ear, and a separate one to feed Mains signal to the floor. The compromise we arrived at is that it's better to put more volume in the Bose towers (since they point at the congregation) if he needs more onstage. We set the floor mons at a workable level, and we soundchecked him on an acoustic song - it sounded great. This morning, we worked from this arrangement and I had full control of the mix. I tweaked the subs send a bit for only kick and very bottom of the bass, plus some compression and gating, and ended up with a very punchy, tight, lively but clear mix that just sounded like magic. I could see most of the congregation just totally getting into it during the worship set. Best of all, the overall loudness was not high, so even the grannies could relax and worship. Praise God!

More than 200 people showed up at the Hard Rock (it only seats 160). It was standing room only for Jesus! Yeeehaw!
Plus I brought the new amp (YBA 200 + 1510 cab) with my EBMM SR5 going into it thru the REDDI, so that didn't hurt either.
One happy bass-playing worshipper over here.

When you say "Hard Rock Service," do you mean songs like stuff by Skillet, Plumb, edgier Third Day stuff, Petra, etc?

In other news our worship team was turned upside down with the departure of our worship leader. Long story short, he and his wife was called elsewhere. Unfortunately there was drama to follow the departure. This has been three weeks now, and I had the word "healing" laid on my heart, I and another guitar player are acting worship leaders for now.

Biggest news is this fall we will be re-vamping the Sunday schedule. Currently we run 2 traditional services plus contemporary. We will be going to one traditional service and the contemporary service. This is a huge step for a congregation dominated by 20+ year members that are 60 years and older. The 8 AM and 10:30 AM traditionals will be combined into a single 9 AM service. Followed by Sunday School at 10:15 and Contemporary Service then at 11. A year-long task force worked with surveys and small group sessions to take the pulse of the congregation. Our contemporary service is still very small but is overwhelmingly supported as a necessary ingredient in the church's future growth. Keep us in your prayers as we transition this year. Thanks.

Will also send up prayers for your team leadership transition, floatingaxe, and for your services transition, mdjuszyn. Change is always hard, and some folks adjust quicker than others. We need the Spirit's help to handle the "slow adapters", if we're not one.
Have a blessed week, all.

near the end it was the W/L and his wife doing the singing, we was like stage decoration that could barely be heard.
The compliments from the congregation is really supportive.

Had my Home Fellowship from Harbour Church then ran down to Grace Cafe for their 8th Annual Arts Festival that had a kinda mediocre turnout but we went on at 3:00 after a quick soundcheck and ended up doing 3 instrumentals and only 1 vocal song due to our singers fighting that nasty cough/congestion stuff that's been running around that's really hard to shake (I've had for 4 weeks at least). That went well although our guitarist needs to step it up a little on his effects set up and just learning his scales and voicing and runs. He is getting lots better. Stayed on Stage after and did a 5 song set with the Oasis Ministry band that I sit in with from time to time and that went pretty well for not practicing their song list and getting sheets for them last night! After that, I met with Pastor Matt from Sojourn Church and he said he was starting a new project playing old school country at Hard Rock Cafe pretty soon and asked if I'd like to be part of it. We talked during the last two acts and went into his worship service practice and he didn't have any extra copies of his set or I would have joined them on that, so I ran the board for them and got him and his new 10 year old walnut Taylor 414 dialed. After his service we talked about his new job as music minister at City Church so I got on the list for their Sunday morning services so I start that the week after next and although they have a pretty hip young mostly 20-30 something congregation, but they are pretty strictly old hymn worship which is a little strange to me. So it looks like in 2 weeks ill be playing 2 churches every Sunday morning and evening! And, maybe in a country cover band as well!! I know Hard Rock pays well. This week, the PentaBuzz is going up to Michael Pedulla for a fingerboard refinish and a possible color change. Right after that, I am really gassing for a black and maple American DeLuxe 5-string Jazz Bass. Details to follow!

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jan 2012 Location: Lyon, France | | So I got a fit of GAS and quenched my longtime lust for a Steinberger last Friday when I bought a 4 string synapse (flat black).
Wow. Suffice to say it packs a clear punch! It is my first bass with EMG PU (this one is a single 35P in the MM sweetspot) and the phenolic fingerboard is a joy to play.
My wife told be on the way back from Church it even might have sat in the mix better than my pbass, which says a lot.
And the folks definitely noticed I got a new bass. When I brought my fretless jazz after playing a ray 5 (well a Wilkinson copy of a ray5) and when I then brought my pbass nobody noticed anything.
But the Steinberger sure got their attention.
Suprinsingly enough 99% of them found it gorgeous (I know them well enough for them to tell me they find it an ugly duckling if they think so).
Now it's time to grow a mullet
