Of course I forgot to talk "Bass Shop" - the recording is my late-90s Sterling 4H running direct through a Tech21 VTBass pedal. Love that little pedal, so great for recording.

K | A good reference is a good reference. Thanks! I will be passing these suggestions along to our MD.

That being the limit of the collective skill set that is how we build performances. It doesn't help that at churches like at one mega near me you have five acoustic guitarist all strumming away. maybe the Eagles pulled it off, in our case the sound man just turns four of them off in the mix.

| | | | Forgive me, for I have committed a sin of omission...
I am NOT a bass player in a band at church, my congregation is a choir and organ congregation (sometimes with flute, violin, cello, clarinet, and/or djembe). I do SING bass in the choir, though. Do I have to give up the number Mkandolf so hospitably gave me? Or is an asterisk sufficient?
Glad the book suggestions were usefull, and glad to be here,

Sunday morning: two morning services (rhythm electric and backing vox)

I know, no bass. Does it help that one of my basses will be played?

I am biased though: I hung out here for a couple of months before I started playing bass in services and like you I was and am singing bass in the choir. I didn't ask for a number until I started playing but that was my decision, no one said I couldn't.
Are you planning to play bass? Are you perhaps the cello player? Give us some more to work with and perhaps we can help you argue your "case".
Welcome aboard,

My newly slimmed-down bass sounded awesome last night at a rehearsal for a trio gig I've got coming up in March.
City-wide worship tomorrow, and there's a good chance it'll be called off because of heavy snow... |

I got the list and my new password for Planning Center this afternoon. First time using it. Went through the list and the links on my phone while driving to a meeting this afternoon listened to the MP3 and YouTube files to get familiar with the songs. Only ever played one song before! Impressive. Practice went well grand piano, acoustic guitar, drums and percussion and me on bass. Played thru the church's G-K combo. The list:
They'll know we are Christians (Em)
Arise MySoul (G)
Jesus Paid it All (Eb)
Jesus Savior Pilot Me (G)
Take My Life (D)
Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder (Bb)
After that, practice with Earthen Vessels
