Pro female bassists who play rock.

Sign in to disble this ad
I am compliling an encyclopedia of professional female bassists who currently play (or used to play) rock music.

Parameters:
1. Must be pro or semi-pro (like ready to quit their day time job if the band takes off).

2. Must be rock music - any kind: original, surf, hard, metal, acid, punk, funk fusion, jazz fusion, experimental, even pop (but more rock than pop).

3. Musician or band must have exposure outside their own region (like, through released recordings and/or videos and/or touring). I.E., a band that is known only in the Pacific Northwest would not qualify, but a band that is known throughout the Northeast (including NYC, Philly, Newark and Boston) would.

Through seraching the Net I have already come up with a list of over 100 female bass players which includes all the usual suspects. I just don't want to miss anyone.

So, if you or someone you know would like to be included, please answer this post and then we can set up an e-mail thing so I can get the info I need (pesonal info not rquired, I just need info on the career as a musician).

Thank you.

P.S. This is not limited to all-female bands or US bands. My list already has bands from Japan, Taiwan, the UK and all over mainalnd Europe.

Julie Slick's my favorite new female rocker. Actually she's my favorite new rocker period. She plays with the Adrian Belew Power Trio, and she's got tons of chops but uses them for good, not evil. Plus she's a real sweetheart, as evidenced by her participation on here.

I need to +1 this. I was blown away by that Rockpalast live video! As a P bass guy (and a Lakland fanboy, some would say), that really pleased me. I gotta watch that yet again--and get the new album.
