tell me about some albums that have a lot of emphasis on bass. i need something to spend a $100 Borders gift card on. it can be a band, a solo artist, anything as long as the bass is prominent.

Nope, you'll most likely need to order them online.

I was going to recommend getting Quiet Sun - Mainstream, but aparently the cheapest you can get that for is 33 bucks online (then there is shipping) and you shouldn't dump half your money on one AMAZING album. But it's a bass heavy amazing prog album.

To get the obvious out of the way, I haven't liked a lot of Claypool's solo stuff, but "Of Whales and Woes" is a pretty amazing album.

See if they have some Tribal Tech CD's Gary Willis is fantasic. If you don't have any Marcus Miller his M2 CD is a great one. Best of James Brown to absorb some classic grooves.

By your profile favorites, I thought maybe some John Wetton era King Crimson or if you wanted something jazzy with edge maybe Niacin with Billy Sheehan.

I'd like to add any post-65 Beatles album. Not particularily heavy on the bass (with some exceptions like Penny Lane), but you really need to get familiar with Paul's playing if you're not. And, of course, JACO! Get his self-titled debut.
