Quest for new Music

Sign in to disble this ad
I am on a quest to find some new music to listen to partly for fun, partly for inspiration. If I had to name genre I would call it Post Rock. Something guitar based and a band active in the last 10 years or so. I really enjoy Classic Rock and Grunge, now I am looking for something a little newer that is not copy cat bands or Extra Heavy Metal.

Do you have any suggestions?

Them Crooked Vultures?
Between Dave Grohl, JPJ and Josh Homme, the Classic Rock/Grunge thing is covered.

I just got their self-titled album today and had a listen.
I like it a lot, and I'm not too partial to new music.

Me either, that's what I ask. It's been a long time since I heard something new that I really liked. I just hope the slogan of a local radio station is not correct "We operate under the understanding that all good music has already been recorded"

You may also want to give Clutch a listen.
They've been around awhile, but not very mainstream.
The way I look at them is this: Their early stuff was nasty and guttural. They went through a "Pure Rock Fury" stage, and their later stuff has been more blues-based rock. It's all awesome.

Nasty wah-filled guitar, amazing rhythm section, and lyrics that require some thought to decipher. Clutch is a rare find. I recommend starting with "Blast Tyrant" or "Pure Rock Fury", but don't miss their self-titled or "Elephant Riders".

It's also one of the most intense shows you'll see, if you get the chance. (they tour almost nonstop).
