In fact, driving in to work this morning, I was listening to some old school and There It Is came on- great bassline, and I was wondering about what bass he might have used. Didn't sound to me like a Jazz, but had a nice thickness with growl - P bass with a pick eh? Good to know....

That song was on an album that came out in 1977. Before Leon Sylvers started producing them. I used to have the album but no longer have it so I can't check the credits. I've read somewhere that it is Melvin Coleman. Doing some more research says that Don Cornelius wrote the song.

J | Leon was well known for playing a Rickenbacker bass. He played fingerstyle and with a pick. |

J | His main bass was a Rickenbacker 4001 with flatwounds with the mutes turned up. He also used a Music Man Sabre sometimes. I'm sure he had some Fenders also.

Killer bass player. Damn.

So a Rickenbacker huh? I stand corrected again. I saw him playing that Ric on a Dynasty video. I want to say it was I've Just Begun to Love You.
While growing up I kept my ears glued to the radio and ever took a tape recorder to record my favorite tunes from the car radio. Ghetto? Yes, but I wanted access to certain songs at all times by any means necessary. Lol
I had forgot about that Reel to Reel tune but yes. I remember that and I want a copy of it.
What about this?
