Ralphe Armstrong Interview

Here is the Ralphe Armstrong interview I did recently. Talking to Ralphe was a humbling experience. He's a very nice & humble man.

http://www.gibsonbass.com/ralpheArmstrong.php

The Jean Luc Ponty Tour pictures were from a tour book I bought at a show back in 1978, right after I bought my brand new RD Artist. He was one of the reasons I bought the bass.

We contacted the famous photographer Armando Gallo for his permission to use the photos from the booklet. He told us about how much he loved the photos in the booklet & what an amazing tour it was. It was a great show I went to in Cleveland, seeing Ralphe back then.

Enjoy!

What's with that 1978 Gibson advertisement claiming that Ralphe played with Frank Zappa? News to me; anyone know what album or concert they're referring to?

London

He played with Zappa in London, Ontario, on December 5, 1975 (as an in-concert audition) and in Detroit, Michigan, on November 19, 1976 (sitting in as a guest).

Nice interview, thanks!

Ralphe is one of the great underrated bassists IMHO.

I couldnīt help noticing a couple of spelling errors BTW - itīs Louie Bellson, Kenny Burrell, Wallace Roney and Living Colour.

Sorry for being anal.

Very nice interview!!!!!!!!!! It's good to know that Ralphe is still active. Do you have any more info on the fretless recording that Ralphe did in 1998? Do you know what his website address is?

Again, very nice job!!!!!!!!!

No, unfortunately Ralphe is supposed to do all this, but not at this point I believe.
