Nobody mentions this guy. I've heard only Burn the Sun album of the Ark band, and this guy sounds great! His style is weird to me, much more... fretless than usual I mean, I cannot understand his lines at all. He's playing when many wouldn't dare, does very weird slides when he's expected to be quiet and it sounds great. His biography states that he recorded with many top musicians, and his students include John Myung of Dream Theater, and Victor Baily.. His bio
There's nothing about him on Wikipedia, and I haven't seen him mentioned on these forums at all.
No point to this topic, just wondering why is he so unknown, and you can praise the guy if you know some of his work. I do

He seems like a great guy and is an awesome musician. I know he pretty much taught the bassist from Dream Theater how to play. He plays occasional shows in the NY area with guitar prodigy Jesse Kinch if anyone wants to see Randy live. |

Great player & very burnt to say the least...glad to hear he's still alive...

I'm watching/listening to the "poem" video on Randy Coven's myspace that Jauqo linked to and WOW! Though the solo's shrederiffic, it grooves like nothing else. Some bassists tend to be all chops and no groove, but man, this guy is monstrous in chops AND groove.
Methinks I'll have to add a new bass hero to my list.
I can't stop listening to "Poem." It's so f'n good.

I was left speechless (I was playing the guitar at the time and I quite naive at the time too). 18yrs later (I am a bass player now) I still discover things to listen to on that recording. Still I need to pull the LP and see if it was the one that was on the cover!!!!

Thatīs one my fav bass tunes ever. I began listening to bass and bass players in the early 90īs. The first Slap / Tap players that I discovered where Stu Hamm (Kings of Sleep) and Randy Coven (Funk me Tender and Sammys says ouch).
The guy is truly talented and versatile. Itīs a pity that he doesnīt get more exposure.
