Randy Hope-Taylor playing bass on Jeff Beck Tour in September

Sign in to disble this ad
When my favorite guitar player tours the US in September,Randy Hope Taylor will again join Jeff Beck's Group after touring with him several years ago. Pino Pallidino played bass on the tour with JB for the short US tour of six dates last spring. Jeff has indicated that this band will be recording material for an upcoming album "in their spare time". I'm going to see the band in Orlando Florida,Sept. 8. I hope some of you get to see the master (Jeff Beck) while you still can...Peace...DAcat

Some of the shows have shown up on the various torrent sites, this version of the band sounds great. However, even the GREATS can screw up. I have the 7-22 and 7-23 Fuji Speedway shows, and on the 22nd, they totally botch the changes on "Led Boots". On the 23rd, they NAIL it.

All I can say is that everytime I've seen Jeff Beck since 1969, I've had so many more jaw-dropping moments than I have with any other performer I've seen since, that I'd recommend that anyone who gets a chance to see him to do so. I can't wait ...3 days to go...Peace...DAcat

Well...I saw one awesome concert with plenty of jaw dropping moments from Jeff Beck...it was a tour de force of Beck's material since his opening "Beck's Bolero" which never sounded more powerful,to some of his most recent material. But what whipped the House of Blues into a fury more than anything that night was to see Beck playing along side a world class singer-Beth Hart... who could belt it out with the class and charisma that all his singers in the past have lacked(which has probably kept him from achieving the noteriety he deserved as a guitarist)...although they only did 5 songs together, those 5 song sent palpable goose-bumps through the crowd...(after talking with many) who knew they had just seen a "Super Band"...which if they continue to play and record new and original material with this same fire, this could likely propel Beck and Hart to heights higher than Led Zepplin, the Stones,...you name it..of course this is my humble opinion...but it was magical...looking forward to other reviews...Peace...DAcat

Just saw the band in Detroit last night. Vinnie C. was just KILLING on drums.

I hadn't been to a 'rock concert' in quite some time, and forgot how bad they can sound. The bass was literally nothing but mud all night... just deep boom laying right over the too loud bass drum... just horrible. He seemed like a good player... who knows!

Jeff sounded great, and it was an honor to see a legend, but they need a new sound man. If you can't make it sound good in the Detroit Opera House, you might as well give it up.

On a positive note, he did a virtual career retrospective, from the early stuff recorded with Rod Stewart, Blow by Blow tunes, etc. Pretty cool!

On a side note, Randy had a large stack of bright yellow MarkBass gear on stage.... next to Jeff's huge pile of Marshall stacks, it looked... well.... um.... silly

It was Randy. Pino only did a couple of early dates on the West coast. I'm sure it was completely due to the front of the house mix... but what a bunch of mush!

OK, thanks, I have been trying to figure this out, what with the three bands Pino is connected with, The Who, Mayer and Jeff Beck all basically touring at the same time. I think we now know who pays the most (da Who)
