Pretty heavy hitting combination. What say you about this cover? (Sorry if this has already been posted, but I did do a brief search.)

Sometimes a song should be left on it's pedestal all by itself. STH is definitely, to me, of that stature.

Did this version have competent musicianship? Sure, you bet, no doubt.

Did they nail the notated musicality of it? Sure, you bet--played as arranged and written out.

Did they nail the spirit and soul of the song-AT ALL?

For me-NO. Simply NO. No one could. It would always be a copy, a way less than perfect facsimile of a true, rare gem.

And Orianthi--oh my my my! Ahhh-I better shut up. Gawd, I am bad. I mean really, really bad

I would love to hear the whole thing. From what I heard, Travis Barker was killing! I really love Randy Jackson, but his American Idol persona is incredibly annoying.

@meeker - any time a song is remade it's the greatest sign of respect. That's how music lives on.

I think this was an excellent version of the song.

It's nice to see Randy Jackson playing bass again. Interesting choice having Steve Vai come in to play rhythm tracks. All in all, they could have done much more damage to the song than they did.

I actually dug the 1985 remake by Far Corporation.

Simon Phillips, some of Toto and Saga made up the band.
