What is Ready Freddy Washington up to these days?

I was just listening to him on a Herbie Hancock record and realized I have not heard anything out of him in what seems like ages.........

Well he did tour with Michael Jackson in the nineties, playing both Bass and Synth (in songs like "Wanna be starting something")

Thanks.

But has he done anything interesting in the last two years?

Just curious. What city is he based out of?

He is such an overlooked monster player.

I'm pretty sure he has been on the last few Crusaders C.D.'s!
My memory sucks, I'll check on my C.D.'s at home and let you know. I do remember the bass being great on them, as on most Crusaders albums

I don't know about recordings but he's one of the busiest on-call live bassists around. He was just in town doing a show for BET. According to a friend of mine he's using some old school basses and killing in that vibe. Excellent bassist.

I was listening to him on Herbie's "Mr. Hands" record the other day. The dude just kills those grooves. Great tone, time, feel, etc. He is way too overlooked and under appreciated IMO.

I suppose that's what comes from being a mild mannered behind the scenes giant in a supporting role. Kind of another Jamerson in that respect.

I used to listen to the Anita Baker stuff just for his bass parts.

Great stuff!

Thanks man, when typing this down I'm ready to hit the showers and I wanted some music there and now I know what to put on.

Strange, according to the live video of his "dangerous" tour it was Ready Freddy on that show.

I remember that. I recall they did a feature on him. He was a young cat who didn't read music [or very little] if I remember correctly but could play his ass off!

I think he's from the Oakland area, but I don't know where he's living now.
