Recommend new bands with good bass players?

Think of all the great bands through the years whose bass players made a significant contribution to the band's sonic identity. Rush, Peppers, Primus, Yes, and scores of others. Some of them so because the bass players were/are flashy, others just because the bass players had a specific sound or charisma of playing that went a certain distance to make the band what they were.

But what about the current crop? What are some new and emerging bands who are notable at least in part because of the contributions of their bass players?

Let's think primarily about bands that have entered the scene materially in the last five years, and not fusion bass players who record their own albums. I know about Hadrien Feraud, Tal Wilkenfeld, Willis, Wooten, and all of those cats - great players but not what I am asking about here. Thoughts?

Spitalfield's first 2 albums have a great bass player with a unique tone.

Remember Right Now and Stop doing bad things.

The last album was great, but not the same caliber as the bass player left.

they may not be your cup of tea, but i like The Matches. the last record, A Band In Hope, has some killer lines. very simple, with groove and taste.
also, The Exit. three piece from new york in the same vein as the Police, a little Talking Heads, and other's of the same style. very solid work. grooves a mile wide.

Also check out Cartel's bass player on Chroma, he was great.

I just saw Paper Route, and the band was great. Everyone of them are musical animals.

Apostle of hustle, listen to the album National Anthem of Nowhere, listen to the title track to have a good idea.

Broken Social Scene: They have a lot of stuff out, for a good bass line and an interesting song structure, especially in pop listen to the song 7/4 Shoreline

I agree — John Stirratt’s playing is wonderful. I just listened to “Sky Blue Sky” (2007) again last night and was reminded of his great talent.

I'm not a fan of The Killers, but I did enjoy the basslines in the handful of songs I've listened to by them.

There's some really tasty bass playing on Guster's "Ganging Up On the Sun".

Would it be in bad taste to say my own band?

Patrick Watson's bass player Mishca stein is Killer. check out their two albus. these guys are venerable rock gods in Europe and they opened for James brown on his last tour.

Mishca is an old friend of mine and he's about as humble a guy as could be imagined... but still great grooves, note choice and use of simple pedals (holy grail. boss OD, volume pedal) to great effect.
