Refreshed by Jamerson

Born in Detroit in '57 I grew up with Motown playing as the soundtrack to my early life. Lately I've been bored with today's music and thought to myself that I needed to hear some good old straight up sing along bass driven music. What else was there than Motown with James Jamerson's superb bass playing. So I went out and bought a bunch of Motown CDs and I've been in Heaven ever since I started playing them. What great tunes, what great musicianship, what great voices, what great memories!!!! I've been away from it for too long. Along with my boredom of modern music, my bass playing has become stale and uninteresting, too. Now, that I've gone back to Motown, I've become rejuvented by hearing and trying to emulate, (Ha!! Like I could ever play like Jamerson!), James Jamerson. I feel refreshed and renewed. Thank you James. I know that God took you too early in life, but He just couldn't resist having those driving bass lines from your Precision played by "The Hook" up in Heaven.
Merry Christmas everyone! Buy a bassplayer some inspriration for Christmas.......get him a few Motown CDs!!!

When I feel like my playing is getting a bit too notey or a bit slappity-poppity I like to go back and relax, play some Anthony Jackson stuff. I know Anthony cites Jamerson as a huge influence on his playing, so you could say I'm influenced by James by proxy! Both fantastic players.
