I have been to his site have seen vids of him on youtube and even play the Fender Reggie Jazz Bass....which is very sweet by the way...but where does he rate? So far I see him as a studio musician...does anybody have the down low on him and from what I have heard of his playing so far he is pretty solid.....I hear Jaco, Stanley Clark, Graham, Bootsy, Jamerson, Berlin etc and I recognise them...but Reggie to me seems to have his own style or technique...I cant think of anyone I could compare him to. Is he considered a top 5 bassist?. I ask this cause I like to know about the person if I am playing a bass with there sig stamped on it. Thanks.

Reggie is one of those rock solid bass players that works constantly with some of the biggest names because he plays what fits and doesn't go for the pyrotechnics. Most bass players just talk about flashy players and tend to ignore the guys who play the pocket and make songs come to life.

I saw Reggie live recently at a clinic. Clinics, of course, are all about selling products, but interestingly, he played his MIM signature basses the whole time rather than the MIA. I also bought his CD from him. Amazing bass player, and fortunately his CD isn't "solo bass" work, but rather ensemble playing with various people. Nice guy, didn't seem to have a big ego, but the man can play.

Yeah he has a good website the last time I checked. He did most all of the stuff on Seal's Human Beings CD, lots of bass driven stuff on there.

Reggie just played on the Aretha Franklin Tribute on TV. I wasn't sure it was him at first, but every now and then he throw in a great line and I knew it had to be him. Later they had some better shots of the band and saw it was Reggie. He also play upright on one tune.

I just came across a great deal on Reggie Hamilton MIM bass and what a great bass. I've started using it instead of my old standbys. That PBass PUP make the sound so punchy and the pre-amp is not over whelming it lets you add to the sound. The mid-range is perfect when you just need a little extra to cut thru. It gets a good slap tone too. Neck is smooth and fast. Definately a good deal being it includes the D-tuner.
