Caught the Mike Ness (Social D) show last night in Chicago. Jesse Dayton's band opened up for them. I just gotta say, it was pretty much a religious experience...not the biggest country fan, but cut my teeth on Social Distortion so had to check it out. Brent Harding (w/Ness) and Kevin Smith (w/Dayton)...these two guys were unbelievable. Technical dynamos? No. Slappin' and poppin' a bazillion miles an hour? No. But they both exhibit such energy and power it was amazing. Not sure if he was going through both, but, Harding's DB was pounding through a couple of 810 ampeg fridges that I'll bet was felt throughout The Loop.

Rockabilly players always get my respect ... rockabilly is all about energy and pounding volumes
