I wonder if that Jeff Berlin instructional DVD includes Tab?

I can't wait for the Metheny/McBride/Sanchez disc. I saw them live and it was a great show.

The Return to forever tour interest me if the price is right. I saw them in the 70's. I have a suspicion the ticket prices will be considerably more then the 7.50$ lawn tickets from 77. It will be a wank fest.

The Holdsworth CD with Alphonso Johnson sounds hot to.

Not to hijack the thread, but I hope the Jeff Berlin video is better than his first one. It was pretty much a waste of money.

Now back on topic. I love Chick Corea but I agree with Burk that this RTF show will probably be a wank fest.

Actually, I've ALWAYS prefered the original RTF lineup with Bill Conners on electric guitar . . .

Much less wankery, IIRC

YMMV

Yes, you're right . . . I SHOULD have said "the first RTF lineup that included electric guitar".

"Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy" (1973, Polydor-Corea/Clarke/Connors/White)

The first two LPs . . . "Return to Forever" (1972, ECM) and "Light as a Feather" (1972, Polydor) (Corea/Clarke/Purim/Farrell/Moreira) was a lighter, more intimate style of "latin-jazz" that I really enjoyed at the time . . .

That might be true, but come on, it's Al Di Meola! He's amazing, not just for his technical ability but for his melodic sensibility, I love what he brings to RTF. I would definitely say that, although it's a "difficult" record at times, Romantic Warrior is one of my favourite fusion releases!

wank away I say. How often do you get the chance to see this level of chops wanking away on the same stage?

The RTF reunion is wonderful, but I would really like to see the Corea/McLaughlin group since it has Christian McBride. That live Richard Bona CD and the rerelease of Jack Bruce's "Question of Time" is great news! I think seeing Bona live is the only way to really appreciate how good he is, and "Question of Time" is one of my favorite recordings. My cassette is dead, so I am looking forward to getting it on CD.

I saw them years ago on another reunion tour. Indeed that was exactly what it seemed like to me. With all that talent on the stage, I was bored. I have seen all the members live involved with other projects that blew me away. Maybe this time will be different.
