I just heard Wicked Wisdom's new CD (yeah, the band with Jada Pinkett Smith in it ... and yes, she's the weak link) and was blown away by the tone that the band's bassist, Rio Lawrence, has on the CD. That's as close to my freakin' holy grail tone as I've ever heard on a recording ...
Does anyone know what gear he uses beyond what appears to be a hot-rodded Fender J-bass? He's a Musician's Institute grad and has played softer R&B gigs with Patti LaBelle and Davina, but recently recorded with a rock-guitar whiz kid named November Salmon before joining WW ... ???
