Long time bassist for Willy Nelson Dan "Bee" Spears passed away late Thursday at age 62 from exposure due to a tragic slip & fall accident on his property just outside Nashville.

RIP and thanks for holding down the groove on so many legendary songs.

RIP Bee...I got to hear him a few years back at a Willie concert and enjoyed his simplistic style and pure country tone. It fit perfect for Willie and company.

RIP Dan.

Very sad and only 62. He was with Willie Nelson since the 60's. Long & good career.

How tragic. So glad I got to see him with Willie a couple of years back. Willie introduced him as the oldest member of his touring band. What a shame, not as old as I thought he was 62. I loved his tone and playing style which was not easy at all with Willies singing and songs. RIP Dan.

Oh, man. My GF and I just saw them for the first time summer 2010 in CT. We were like 5 rows back. He looked just like the picture Rolling Stone put up. Very sad.
My heart goes out to his family, and the Nelson's.
