RIP Donald Mayberry

Renowned bassist Donald Mayberry has died. He was a beloved figure on the Detroit jazz scene. During his career he played with such great artists as Lena Horne, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, and even toured with David Bowie. He was best known for his versatile musicianship and steady professionalism. He was born in Columbia, Tennessee but moved to Detroit as a child. He passed away at his home in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He was 60 years old.
