| I had a book I bought around 1971 that had a few words from him about constructing a bass line. He said that it'd be wrong to just go out and jam in Dmin for "In A Gadda Da Vida", but that it would also be wrong to play it the same way all the time. He'd always be listening to what the others were doing and his line would react to, compliment, or double what others were doing so the music would be alive.
Great advice I took to heart, even before I started playing bass.
