a tragic irreplaceable loss. one of the very few original musicians...basically ever. I was watching an interview with him and he was talking about how people wondered if he was influenced by Jaco, he didn't even know how to pronounce Jaco, lol, called him "Yaco" assuming this was some Spanish name or something. anyway, another unfillable hole in the music universe, not to mention the lives of his family, wife and young daughter. if you go to his site mickkarn.net there's a donation thing to help support his family, and it's there because they actually need it. if you loved his music, toss a few quid in his hat for them. its on the messages page.

I found another pile of my '70s/'80s/'90s Guitar Player mags...& so I re-read the one with an article on Mick Karn. Wow, an interesting story, self-taught & completely unique.
I didn't know Japan broke up in '82...I was wondering why I missed out them (pretty much a Jazz Nazi until about 1983).
