|  | Registered User | | Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: Metro St. Louis | | OMG!!!  This is terrible news! Robert Wilson was quietly just as much of a trailblazer as Stanley Clarke or Anthony Jackson. His solos and detuning really raised the bar on what the bass could do in mainstream funk. I know Andrew Gouche counts him as major influence, that alone tells us how important Robert Wilson's recorded legacy is.

| | Registered User Endorsing: Ampeg | | Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Apopka, FL | | | robert wilson was one of my favorites for da funk. holy cow, what a talented dude. plus he had discipline, which is sorely lacking in a lot of young players. he would lay on the same riff sometimes for an entire song, never changing it. when the system wrote the song "don't disturb this groove," i think they were talking about him. he never once disturbed the groove to make himself look like the hero, and for that, he was a hero.
