I haven't found anything on the web so far, but this is what WIll Lee wrote on facebook.

Quote:
I'm very saddened and heartbroken to find out that our beloved brother Tommy "T-Bone" Wolk suddenly passed on last night, unexpectedly due to a heart attack. He will be missed and his beautiful music will live on. He was a dear friend........

that is truly awful. T-Bone was a great, understated player who was a huge part of Hall & Oates sound. Wow. RIP.

Wow.
Besides being a great bassist I was surprised to catch him recently playing guitar with someone on CMT. He did some lead playing also and was quite good.

Oh no! I wasn't into Hall & Oates, but I became aware of T-Bone through his work with Elvis Costello--he played on several of his albums. On King of America (one of my favorites), he played bass, guitar, accordion and piano. A very talented man has left us too soon. RIP.

That's really sad. He was a super player. I was so surprised when I read that he played on Curtis Blow's "Christmas Rap," and "The Breaks." I guess he and Doug Wimbish are or were the first two hip hop bassists.

Rest in peace, friend! Job very well done!

I have a bass book written by him back in the eighties - I think it's called "Rock Bass Licks".
Always enjoyed watching and listening to him play! Seemed like a very humble, earthy guy!

Wasn't he GE Smith's foil on the SNL band? or am I mistaken?

EDIT: I think he started out recording out of Muscle Shoals Studios, IIRC. I think he states this in the forward of his book

I don't think so. He was a Westchester, NY guy (Yonkers?).

So sad. I wonder if it was a medical condition that he knew about, or if it runs in his family so it was always in the back of his mind.

He always played to serve the song so well. And I loved his tone, too. It seemed to come from a place within him very sincerely. R.I.P.

Outside of this thread and his updated wiki page, I have not seen anything about his death anywhere. Maybe we should hold off on the tributes until we can confirm this.

I hadn't heard about this until I found this thread. I learned a great deal from T-Wolk. I am very sorry and shocked to hear this news.

Just heard of T Bone passing away a few hours ago. He was a fine musician. Saw him recently on Live At Daryl's House on the web and he was playing guitar with Daryl and Todd Rundgren doing some of Todd's songs.

Here's a vid with Carly in '87

Maybe this should be in "Bassists" and not "Off Topic"
