Theron Brison was a drug counselor of 20 years and a bass player all his life - he was associated with Bootsy and Victor through the on-line Funk University.
His copter-chops may not be your cup of tea, but he was a monster player and a good friend. I'll miss him.
Take the time to check out the videos linked to in the article - they'll be your only shot at catching him play.
I am stunned... I have followed his lessons at Bootsy's Funk University online school last year. This saddens me. My prays to his family and friends... RIP Thee Ram Jam. The funk will stay strong...
I had the privilege of sharing a bill with him and his band. Theron was just the nicest guy around. He was very encouraging and was willing to go over his set up with a fellow bassplayer. In fact, he convinced me to buy a Digitech Bass Synth Wah. He was also a fellow TB'r, although I've had more personal encounters with him than I have here, still he was a brother just the same.
I'm floored by this. RIP brother Theron. I wish his family all of my condolences.
I can't believe he's gone.... I first came to know Thee Ram Jam from Bootsy's Funk U and he was always very encouraging of the students... gave all of us individual feedback/comments. He'll be missed.
