"I could watch the Rocco/"What is Hip" segment over and over. Wow! Especially watching I think it's their manager (the smoking girl) just bopping along"

thats Stephanie, Warrens wife and manager

I thoroughly enjoyed Rising Low and I think Mike did the best job of his film career so far. Outside Out (another Mike Gordon film) is enjoyable to me only because of Col Bruce Hamtons parts but I think he did justice to the whole DeepEnd project. Although I would have loved to see more footage with Woody playing seeing as how they mention in the movie how much footage there is of Mule WHERE??. Overall a treat for me being a bassist and a big Govt Mule fan.

And I could be wrong but this makes sense to me:
Joey Arkanstaat = DRUGS or that whole lifestyle.
Mike says that Woody met Arkanstaat when he first joined the ABB and Joey is also called Woodys alter ego!
Just my theory.

It appears that on "The Deepest End" Conrad Lozano is playing a Lakland Joe Osborne Signature.

As for "Rising Low", I wish there was more live footage of Woody's playing. Seeing him live really inspired me to practice. After years of being a "shred head", somehow I just connected with his style and decided that that's how I wanted to play.

I played my Woody at band practice tonight and everyone was saying how good it sounded. The only problem is that I have the action fairly low and have to play it with a pick(like Woody!) or else I get a lot of clacking using my fingers. It felt relly good and when I switched over to my KS Burner 5 string I wished I would have kept on with the Woody. I'm more impressed with this bass the more I play it.

From reading this thread, this DVD really isn't much of a retrospective on Allen Woody, huh?

What a shame.

I was fortunate to have seen Mule several times and always managed make my way to the right hand side of the stage to stand right under Woody. That guy could climb and drop bass lines like lumber. AMAZING! They killed on the Dose/Life before Insanity tours - what a power trio!!!

I met Woody (and Matt and Warren) a couple times after the shows and he always seemed so stoic - not really friendly, not really mean, just posturing but in a cool kinda way.

I was hoping this DVD would have rare footage or something more about him as a player. I guess not, huh?

It does have what you're looking for. Most of the talk in this thread seems to have been about the all-star guest players, but there is plenty of Allen Woody in the DVD. Rare footage (including home video of him as a child, stuff from the tour bus, hotels, concerts, TV appearances, and his instructional video) plus everyone from his dad to his wife to Greg Allman sharing their memories of him as a person and a player. The DVD goes in a lot of different directions, but Woody weaves all the way through it.

right, but definitely more focussed on the other players in my opinion. if you are looking for all woody stuff, you'll be left wanting more, but great dvd.
