I get where you're coming from with the sunglasses, but to me that's part of the deal that makes him so bad-ass. Any time you've got a guy that's really hard to get a read on, there's a certain element of uncertainty and danger to that persona which -- IMO -- adds to the "cool factor" immensely.
So often people think the bass player is the unthreatening, milquetoast "nice guy" of the band and guys like Deleo make you realize (or at least suspect) it might not necessarily be so. He might in fact be the nicest, soft spoken guy in the world... but you don't *know* that for sure. That's what's cool.
The thing that throws me with Deleo is that unorthodox "quasi-upright" technique (a la Bill Wyman)... which looks to me like it would be supremely uncomfortable but obviously works out very well for him.
