Recently I have been enjoying his bass playing...anyone else a fan?
I guess he predominantly played a Schecter Model T....anyone played one of these?

I've been a fan since their first album. He is DEFINITELY the "driver of the bus" in that band, for sure. He sports an ultra-cool pompadour (look it up,kids),too!! |

He delivers the right sound for every song.

Great P with flats sound. "Sour Girl" is still one of my favorite basslines ever. Shows how you don't have to be flashy to be effective. |

Went back and started listening to the old stuff from the 90's and realized the guy is quite good. I think he is underated.

He builds busy yet melodic lines that drive the song.
His tone is also so fat and warm that it`s hard to fully appreciate what he`s doing.
My number one influence for the last couple of years.

I am completely blown away by his live tone and chops every time I catch them in concert...the quintessential rock and roll bass player. He's just a cool dude, he looks like he's showing up to a classy jazz gig for every STP show, and then just lays it down. |

He IS the James Jamerson of hard rock.
I've seen a few of those Schecter basses like he plays in Guitar Center. They are not expensive at all, but seem to be built very well. Maybe worth checking out?

Loved his playing on Core and I like his approach to making the bass lines interesting and different from the guitar parts. His writing style was very cool, I remember thinking how someone would conceive of writing a bass line like the one on Plush. |

Sour Girl is such an awesome song with such an awesome bass line. Tried to convince band mates to play this one for years to no avail.

His lines just have this great bubbly, driving feel that is simplistic on the surface but mixed with some great fills. Love his tone. I need to learn some of these lines.
Not sure I will ever find one of the Model T's to try out though which is a bummer. Anyone know if the P is further back than on a standard? It may just be a visual illusion due to the pickguard. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
