Rob always seemed like a class act. Lars would have bought it to hang on his wall.

Always respected Rob as a player of course but my overall respect for him as definitely gone way up now, thats an amazing thing to do.

Unfortunately the owner of the shop refused to return it to the Pastorius family resulting in protracted legal squabbles. Almost two years passed before Robert was able to jump in and help make it possible for the family to settle out the case and regain control of their father's prized bass.
I take that to mean he gave the shop owner a substantial amount of cash, probably out of his own pocket. Good job Rob.

I thought this bass was now owned by Jaco's old luthier (can't remember his name), but wasn't aware it was in litigation.

I'd be interested in reading more detail about the Trujillo connection.

Good to know theirs still at least one good person left in Metallica.

Thanks Rob!

I've always liked Trujillo, but his stock just went up in my book. Nice to read good news nowadays.

There's at least one photo with his last girlfriend Teresa and him. It was rebuilt by Keven Kaufman after Jaco somehow managed to shatter the thing into a million little pieces (much debate remains on how exactly he smashed it into a million pieces though)

I saw a youtube clip of Jaco playing in (I think) Japan, and at the end, as the picture is fading out, Jaco hurls his bass into the air, and as the pic completely disappears, a tremendous "kabonnggg" is heard. Presumably, the sound of the bass crashing back to the ground. I bet something broke that time!
