i love floyd and appreciate what roger does. i don't think he's a virtuoso (gilmour and wright are pretty sensational), but i do like how he serves the song.

Held the groove ALWAYS...When they played live together he did play every line and held it down with eights, quarters, and half notes... It helped keep that slow steady groove

Even before Gilmour was in the band, he had some awesome lines, this video is one made after Syd Barret left, so it shows Gilmour playing, but its fake, its just a music video, it was recorded before Gilmour, so it's not him playing the bass on it! but you can still hear some good Waters-bass on it

everything bass-wise from The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (before Gilmour) is excellent.

Yes. Bass wise is a key part of that though.
