Here is a nice clip of Roscoe driving his signature bass. This looks like his 4 string model.

Yup I had one and sold it, and do miss it. I want one back..
(RBV)pretty bad in the sunburst or shorline gold, alone with a FMT-5 that PACMAN swears by,,,and I trust his judgment 100%

The crazy thing is, I got rid of the RBV in shorline gold for the FMT. I really wish I could've just bought the FMT - the RB is one of the basses I really want back!

I love Roscoe's playing and tone.

I sat about 2 feet from him at an EJ show at BB King's,
and it was the time of my life.

+1 On the wanting the RBV back. For a passive bass, which imo could still sound as good as any Fender style bass with its warm Fender growl, it had some gonads, and certainly that Fender sound that Fender lovers like me love. I remeber I used to just stare at the bridge because it looked so kool and different.

The related vids - III, IV, and V...are great as well. Tom Brechtlein is a shuffle master too! (And of course...gotta' love youtube...the Reggie Hamilton vids w/ Bisquera are awesome too!)

I'm a huge fan! I picked up a RBV years ago, not because I was a fan, but because when I walked into the music shop and picked it up the neck felt so right. One of the best basses Fender has made! IMHO

I hate to sound like a broken record, but what was SO SPECIAL about the bridge that they had to stop making the whole bass, other than a certain manufacture had a patent on it? Yes I thought it was kool, but is there a reason that this bridge just could not be replaced with something else? or did Roscoe insist on this bridge and ONLY THIS BRIDGE for his signature bass?

Didn't the fiver have a Gotoh bridge? I have a four, and it has what Fender calls a locking convertible bridge. It's a nice bridge.

That is what they are doing now, with Hipshot.

Great player, great bass and a nice guy too. Check out his solo album Walk On, not your typical bass solo album, this a collection of his songs with superb drummers, guitarists, singers, etc guesting. Great grooves and just one tasteful short solo, your CD collection is lacking without it, buy it now. Clips here http://www.roscoebeck.com/DiscVideo.aspx

Darkstrike, are their any pics of new RBV with the hipshot that you know of, or just of the bridge itself? I would like to take a peek.

Thanks.

This line-up KILLED it at Winter NAMM, I got a bunch of pics. Not only with Tom on the skins, but Greg Koch the reigning KING of the telewhacker, and Malford Milledge (not drew carey, lol).

Malford is a flat out monstah on a stage. What a front man! The fact he could even hold his own on stage with a power trio like that is a feat in itself.

Ya know, Mark knopfler was just here in town and I just couldn't scrape up the $100 for the show, but I'd have sold myself on a corner to get the cash together to see the band in these pics play all night. We so need a "we're not worthy" smilie up in here!
